Hydrangea Boutonnieres?

Hi all, I'm quite new, getting married this July, and I'm trying to decide on a boutonniere.  I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using hydrangeas as bouts, I really like them because they are not over the top, just fairly simple.  The florist I'm considering told me they won't hold up, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them done.  Does anyone have any experience?  I know zilch about flowers.  Any advice is appreciated!

Check out the link below it has a video on making a hydrangea boutonniere. The video does not wire the flower but just tapes it naturally.

I'm DIY ing the WP flowers and my florist told me that hydrangeas are delicate flowers which bruise and brown easily.  He did recommend that id I wanted to use them I use cotton gloves as the oils from our skin will cause them to brown easy.

I would give it a trial run and see if you like the results.

I'm using hydrangeas in my wedding..not for boutonnieres but they will be in the BM bouquets. Hydrangeas will dry up quickly especially in the summer. (I'm having an outdoor August wedding). My florist told me to keep the bouquets in water as much as possible or you could probably keep a spritzer around.

Thanks for the advice, ladies.  I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the florist trying to get out of difficult work.  This makes me feel better. :-)

my sister used hydrangeas in her wedding. florist made it clear (so she didn't use them in the bouts) the small amount u would need from the flower burst would be so small, u'd only be able to use the small sprigs off the main bunch. & they're too delicate. that they'd wilt w/in a few hours.

I'm having hydrangeas in my bouquet. I wanted them in the boutineres too, but my florist told me the same thing - that they'd wilt and brown easily.

I've experienced this first-hand as a bridesmaid. Our bouquets had small sprigs of hydrangea in them, and it was the only part of the bouquet that wilted before we walked down the aisle, despite us keeping them in fresh water.
